Answer:

The poem Money by William H. Davies, a Welsh poet and writer, offers a reflective commentary on the impact of wealth on human relationships and the true value of life’s simple pleasures. William H. Davies was also known as the ‘Tramp Poet’ for his humble and observant poetry

The title, encapsulates the central idea being the influence of money and its relation to happiness through his personal experiences

The theme of the poem revolves around the paradox of money. While it can bring material comfort and attract people, it often leads to isolation and a lack of genuine relationships. It tells us about the rich man who wants to be a poor man to find the real happiness.

The poem is written in a set of five stanzas of four lines each. It has a simple narrative yet effective style. Poetic devices like Alliteration, Antithesis, Inversion, Simile, Onomatopoeia, Repetition, metaphor, and irony are used to underline his thoughts. The use of Vivid imagery and metaphors in lines like ‘wives hum, like bees’ etc enhances its depth. The rhyme scheme of the first four stanzas is abcb and of the last stanza is abab.

The poem conveys a powerful message about that money is not happiness. and to experience true joy one must values people more than money and distinguish between true friends and opportunists. It is not necessary for the poor to become rich as necessary it is for the rich to become poor.

In my opinion, Money is a thought-provoking poem that compels us to reflect on our priorities and relationships. It also reminds us of the true essence of happiness, which lies not in material wealth but in meaningful connections and contentment.
